A Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all our Readers
Have you all made out your Christmas lists, just the usual things then. Several gallons of 40 weight oil, a new pair of TT100s, maybe even a new paintjob and perhaps a bottle of the water of life to help you reflect on the past year. This year has been as busy as usual for the Branch with reasonable attendances at our monthly meetings. This years events started with our now traditional soaking at the Thistle Rally in the borders. The good thing about the Thistle is that it sets you up for the rest of the year. No matter what the weather is at any rally it will rarely be worse than the Thistle! This years was memorable for the flood in my tent when a certain Edinburgh gentleman left my tent door open overnight. We awoke in the morning to find most of his gear floating around!
By the beginning of May the weather improved dramatically and some of us spent a brilliant weekend courtesy of the Moto Guzzi club at Stirling. This event is well worth attending.
Come June we were lucky once again to have excellent weather for our "Monster" rally. Although poorly attended an excellent time was had by all and also merited a big thank you in the Roadholder. We lost money on this event but had a good time. Although its worth a mention that our own crocodile Bankfoot went for a laugh and came home in stitches!!
July saw the International take place at Bisley and once again the Tay Valley Branch was there and of course our own Phil Rattary won the "best dancer" award. A long ish run for a weekend at 1000 miles + but well worth it.
A week later some of us attended a camping weekend at Applecross on the West Coast of Scotland. This is a must for the run alone, the pubs not bad either although I think they may hide the songsheets from us next year!!
We then had a camping weekend at Glen Clova which was well attended ?? An excellent time was once again had apart from Alex inspecting the tarmac on the way there luckily not suffering any major damage.
We finished off the year in fine form by having a camping weekend at Amulree, this was well attended and most of us had a good time. One of our Nottingham friends looked a trifle poorly on the Sunday though having been the victim of drinking with Julian Thomson syndrome.
A good year with Peters unfortunate accident the only real bad note in the year ( and perhaps when I was thrown over the bar at the Monster!!! Its got to stop before someone gets hurt)
Looking forward to 2001 its much of the same with many rallies already pencilled in with the International in the Dordogne being especially looked forward to. To get the most out your club you should all make the effort to get out there and enjoy your Nortons where they should be , on the road.
